Talking to Mia

My gosh, it's so fun to talk to Mia on the phone now. This a.m. we talked for a long time and I had such a good time. She asked if it was nighttime in Seattle so i explained that I'm in Hawaii. She asked "Why?" Cracks me up. Everything is "Why?" So I tell her later that it's always summer here and she actually understood about the equator and being closer to the sun. Wow.

Then she asks if I'm going to a hukilau???? What? Where did she get that???? She says from a CD, so I sing her the hukilau song and tell her that humuhumunukunukuapua'a sometimes get caught in the hukilau net (she has a stuffed Humu). I ask if she wants me to teach her how to say Humu's long name and she says she already knows how....humumuapua'a. Pretty close!

Then she stops for a second and says, "Mommy, I'm very busy. Daddy, I'm very busy." When she comes back to me she said, "I just had to tell them so they would understand." What a fun girl, I'm so lucky to be her gramma.

Oh, last thing: she suggested that I come back to Olympia before she gets there later this summer and says I can return to Hawaii after she goes back home. Where the heck does she come up with this stuff?
