Still hibernating

Let's see. I got home Tuesday, after a fun-packed gramma 2 weeks, but slightly depleted. Promised my Self a hibernation of at least a week. It's Saturday and there's no end in sight for the heavenly down-time. For example, I have been watching some sports program for at least an hour. It's pre-Preakness-race and they're telling a great story about some of the horses, especially Mine That Bird. He won the Derby at 50-1 odds, the lowest since 1913. I love love love underdogs so am really rooting for him to win the Preakness. On the other hand, a filly with such favorable odds, Rachel Alexandra, is rare.....well, a filly in the Preakness is rare, much less in such a favorable position. I want to root for the girl, too. But my heart is really with MTB....root with me.

I wonder so much about my hermit tendencies. It's so delicious being alone and doing all the things I love doing, why would I feel any pressure to conform to (perceived) social standards? I was just talking to Dan...he says he loves it when people cancel his plans....me, too! I say. Today I was going to have lunch with a nephew and his gf; then had plans to cook my famous sour cream spaghetti for a friend I haven't seen in years. Both cancelled.....I was relieved and disappointed at the same time. I know it means something....but what? How do I morph into a social hermit? Hah...

Today is my 3rd day taking hCG shots and loading up on fats. Tomorrow I start the hCG diet which means shots, 500 calories a day and no fats. My doctor has been wanting me to lose weight for a long time, but now, because I can relate the weight directly to some health issues, I'm ready. I like the idea of this regime because it's easy....and no cravings. Made to order for me. Will document it on here; if for no other reason than to keep me accountable.

Here goes the race!
RA is ahead.
MTB is last, but he was last at the Derby, too, so no biggie, right?
But will anyone give him a hole to break through???
Here he comes plowing ahead....jeez.
so exciting.
RA in front with 1 furlong to go.
She wins, MTB is 2nd.
Amazing!
She's the first filly to win the Preakness in 85 years, the 5th overall.
I love a good horse race.
