Salmon, wasabi and nori

Mmm, good dinner at GJT's. Fresh salmon rubbed with herbs and garlic, wrapped with nori that had a thick smearing of wasabi paste. A salad with plums, shaved fennel, arugula and more. Caramelized bananas for dessert. Molded brown rice sprinkled with sesame seeds. Very nice. What super friends and neighbors have I.

I have been trying new recipes lately, smaller scale, and I'm very happy with them. Especially a chicken broth with garlic, broccoli and tortellini. I added chopped tomatillo as well. Healthy. Super taste.

My best hanabata friend, Leilani, is going to be coming to Oregon tomorrow. It turns out I won't be able to go see her. I do wish my far away friends were closer. There's something to be said for living in the same town one grew up in. I suppose we'd not only our dear ones near, but perhaps the not so dear as well. Price to pay and all that.

The kittens are ready to spread their wings. All weaned, litter-trained, full of charm and character. The waiting list shrinks and grows almost daily so I'm never sure if they all are spoken for or not. One way or the other, the little furballs will be gone in a week or, at the most!, two.
