Another day on a fast treadmill. Mark and family made the rounds of Olympia: Farmer's Market, Batdorf and Bronson Tasting Room and the Hand's On Children's Museum. I, on the other hand, took Marie and Rowdy to lunch. Well, she paid, but I drove. Rowdy is out of that nasty nursing home and back in his senior center. I'm glad, and relieved. He's 95 y.o., was friends with Marie's sister, Ilene. I treasure him because he has such a sweet soul. Marie was kind enough to buy us a fantastic lunch at Anthony's. I had my usual blackened rockfish taco. Oh, and a few bites of fresh peach ice cream.
Then Marie and I window-shopped at some of her favorite stores....Talbot's, Chico's, etc. Then to market to market. She bought 2 crab cakes for her dinner. I bought a big chicken for dinner. Then came home and thought I'd take a little rest before I started the chicken, but no such luck. Was soon slaving over the stove. Used my new roasting pan...found out it's too big. Dang.
Pammie came by to meet the children....she's so good with them and with everyone, really. She and I picked blackberries. Everyone helped me cook as I was fast running out of steam. Mia even helped set the table.
Mark and Jenna went to a movie and I'm babysitting. This was the first time they'd gone out before Mia went to sleep. It went fine. She got to stay up late, eat sherbet and watch 4 Madeline episodes. Wow! They we went to my bed where we read two books, turned out the light, gave each other hugs, and boom...she was asleep. She really wanted daddy, but keeping her distracted worked wonders. It was great fun to be a real gramma.
